New Funding Opportunities

• NOT-NR-23-012: Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Addressing Organizational Factors to Prevent or Mitigate Nurse Burnout seeks research studies to develop and evaluate novel organizational interventions to prevent and mitigate nurse burnout which will build new knowledge and the evidence base for implementation in places where nurses practice: in hospitals and clinics, in schools and workplaces, in homes and long-term care facilities, in justice settings, and throughout communities. First Available Due Date: October 5, 2023
• NOT-NR-23-014: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Firearm Injury Prevention in Community Healthcare Settings (R01 Clinical Trial Optional). NINR intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Request for Application (RFA) to advance research that reduces firearm injury and disparities through the development and evaluation of firearm injury primary prevention interventions leveraging community healthcare settings. Estimated Publication Date: Fall 2023

• NOT-NR-23-015: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Short Courses in Social Determinants of Health for Research Education in Nursing Research (R25 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed). NINR intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications to establish a Short Course in Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) to provide research education in nursing research. Estimated Publication Date: September 15, 2023

• NOT-NR-23-016: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Nursing Research Education Program in Firearm Injury Prevention Research: Short Courses (R25 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed). NINR intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications to establish a Short Course in Firearms Injury Prevention to provide research education in nursing research. Estimated Publication Date: September 15, 2023

• PA-23-260: Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions with NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) will support students at institutions with NIH-funded institutional predoctoral dual-degree training programs. The purpose of the Kirschstein-NRSA, dual-doctoral degree, predoctoral fellowship (F30) is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g. DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists. First Application Due Date: December 8, 2023

• PA-23-272: Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31) enables promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The proposed mentored research training must reflect the candidate’s dissertation research project and is expected to clearly enhance the individual’s potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist. First Application Due Date: December 8, 2023

• PAR-23-166: Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) (S06 Clinical Trial Optional) funds federally-recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribes, tribal colleges or universities, tribal health programs, or tribal organizations (collectively, eligible AI/AN tribal entities) to support health-related research, research career enhancement, and research infrastructure enhancement activities. First Available Due Date: July 8, 2024

• RFA-AT-24-004: NIH-DoD-VA Pain Management Collaboratory Pragmatic and/or Implementation Science Demonstration Projects ((UG3/UH3) Clinical Trial Required) solicits UG3/UH3 phased cooperative agreement research applications to conduct efficient, large-scale pragmatic clinical trial and/or implementation science Demonstration Projects within the infrastructure of the NIH-DoD-VA Pain Management Collaboratory (PMC) on nonpharmacologic approaches to pain management and other comorbid conditions in U.S. Veterans, military personnel, and their families. Application Due Date: September 13, 2023

Continuing Funding Opportunities

• RFA-NS-24-015: HEAL Initiative Partnerships to Advance INterdisciplinary (PAIN) Training in Clinical Pain Research: The HEAL PAIN Cohort Program (T90/R90 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed) will support interdisciplinary postdoctoral training to promote the next generation of independent clinical pain researchers. Application Due Date: September 26, 2023

• RFA-OD-23-018: ADVANCE Predoctoral T32 Training Program to Promote Diversity in Health Disparities Research, Preventive Interventions, and Methodology (T32, Clinical Trial Not Allowed) solicits T32 applications to train predoctoral scholars from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in prevention relevant fields, in three integrated areas: 1) health disparities/health equity research, 2) development and implementation of multi-level preventive interventions, and 3) methods for the design and analysis of studies to evaluate multi-level preventive interventions. Application Due Date: October 31, 2023

NIH Application Instruction Updates – Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Costs

NOT-OD-23-161 updates the NIH application instructions for submitting requests for Data Management and Sharing costs in a single line item. Previous instructions requiring the single line item will be rescinded effective October for due dates on or after October 5, 2023. Please read the full notice for details.
