How Does Diversity Affect Innovation in Pharma?

Studies have suggested that a diverse and inclusive workforce augments innovation throughout the pharmaceutical industry. This seminar will bring together a panel of four biomedical leaders with NIH's Chief Officer of Scientific Workforce Diversity to discuss how diversity has impacted discoveries within their field. Their formal remarks will be followed by open discussion of questions submitted by seminar registrants and attendees.
Workshop on Housing and Obesity: Gaps, Opportunities, and Future Directions for Advancing Health Equity
November 14 – 15, 2022
This multi-agency sponsored workshop will explore the role of housing insecurity in obesity-related health disparities, the evidence base for housing-related interventions to address obesity disparities, and future directions to advance health equity for all. The overall goal of this workshop is to accelerate research on the role of housing insecurity—including housing affordability, quality, stability, and its neighborhood context—on behaviors and pathways underlying risk for obesity-related health disparities across the lifespan. The workshop will emphasize existing research that connects housing policies and programs with obesity and also address methods for housing and obesity research, including study design, measures, data linkages and analytic approaches.
Virtual NIH P2P Workshop: Identifying Risks and Interventions to Optimize Postpartum Health
November 29 – December 1, 2022 | Online
NIMHD is sponsoring this free, virtual Pathways to Prevention workshop hosted by NIH on identifying research gaps related to predicting and preventing poor postpartum health outcomes. The United States is experiencing a growing maternal health crisis. The majority of maternal deaths and complications occur during the first year after the pregnancy has ended (the postpartum period). The research community must increase efforts to improve postpartum care.

White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health

The Biden-Harris Administration will host the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health on September 28, 2022. In parallel to the conference, the administration will be announcing a National Strategy that identifies steps the government will take and catalyzes the public and private sectors to address the intersections between food, hunger, nutrition, and health.
