New Health+ Long COVID Report

|
HHS has released a new report that highlights the experiences of people living with Long COVID to better understand it and to help drive solutions. The report describes the Health+ program’s human-centered design, includes patient descriptions and journeys, and offers recommendations on delivering high-quality care and resources to support individuals and families affected by Long COVID. This report builds on two previously issued HHS Long COVID reports.

Opportunity for CEAL teams to showcase their research
The journal Healthcare is accepting manuscript submissions for its special issue, “What Did the COVID-19 Pandemic Teach Us About Health Literacy and Health Communication?” Its editors are seeking papers detailing evidence-based/best practices in health literacy and culturally sensitive health communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. Manuscripts describing how to disseminate, implement, or evaluate translational research are especially encouraged. The submission deadline is March 31, 2023.

New animated clinical trial video from Louisiana CEAL
The Louisiana CEAL team, in collaboration with the podcast Noise Filter, Tulane University, and Xavier University, has released a new animation as part of its series to encourage diversity in clinical trials. This video follows the journey of a clinical trial volunteer and addresses his concerns about participating in a study.

Perceptions of local COVID-19 transmission and impact on use of preventive behaviors
Your community’s perception of local COVID-19 levels may affect how your members engage in preventive behaviors against infection. According to a recent issue of MMWR, half of surveyed adults who recently received a positive SARS-CoV-2 test perceived local COVID-19 transmission to be low or moderate, despite their positive test result. People who perceived higher local COVID-19 transmission were more likely to practice behaviors to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

The Ad Council’s 2022 Trusted Messenger report provides a deeper look into the messengers Americans trust to raise their awareness of, learn about, and incite them to take personal action on key social issues. Topics for 2022 include health and wellness, mental health, and racial equity and justice.
