NIH CEAL Accomplishments —
By the Numbers
|
|
As the numbers show, CEAL has had a big impact in the two years since its launch. Furthering CEAL’s goal to address COVID-19 by providing trustworthy, science-based information, CEAL Teams have collaborated with nearly 1,000 organizations and held more than 1,500 local events reaching more than half a million participants. CEAL Teams distributed 123,000 masks and almost one million copies of educational materials. Also, more than 600 people have signed up for COVID-19-related clinical trials.

New Philly CEAL study
To help address low COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among parents, researchers from the Philadelphia Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19 conducted a study on parental decision making. The new study, “Comparing COVID-19 vaccination outcomes with parental values, beliefs, attitudes, and hesitancy status,” appears in the journal Vaccines. The findings suggest that health care providers and policymakers can focus on improving vaccination coverage among children living in suburban neighborhoods through targeted mobile-based messaging emphasizing safety to their parents.

Staying up-to-date on boosters
Learn about the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna mRNA boosters that target two versions of the COVID-19 virus in CEAL’s newly updated fact sheet. The fact sheet outlines the dosing schedules for different age groups and why some vaccinated people still get sick. Also, in case you missed it, Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine is now available as a booster. The Novavax booster targets only the original COVID-19 strain and is an option for anyone over age 18 who has completed the primary series and cannot or does not want to take an mRNA booster.
