CEAL Releases New Toolkit on Children and Vaccines, Updates Booster Toolkit |

CEAL’s new pediatric toolkit has six new social media posts addressing why children should get vaccinated as well as vaccine safety, effectiveness, and side effects. The booster toolkit addresses the difference between primary and booster shots, who needs a booster, which vaccine is used for booster shots, and why and how often we need boosters. Check out both toolkits and share the posts with your communities!

CEAL Spotlight: Empowering community health workers to talk about COVID-19
The Chicagoland CEAL research team and Sinai Chicago train community health workers (CHWs) to deliver COVID-19 information and foster vaccine confidence in their communities. The first training provides basic information about COVID-19 and how to help community members explore their concerns. The second session furthers that training and helps participants expand their work in community health.

Award for developing maternal health research infrastructure
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development is inviting entries for its Connecting the Community for Maternal Health Challenge. The prize competition seeks to encourage nonprofit community or advocacy organizations to develop the capabilities to do research in maternal health. The anticipated registration submission start date is September 1, 2022.

New funding opportunity: RADx-UP mini grants
The RADx-UP CDCC Community Collaboration Mini-Grant Program provides $50,000 to community partners to support COVID-19 testing initiatives. The program is open to community-serving organizations, faith-based organizations, and Tribal Nations and organizations. RADx-UP is an NIH-supported consortium of more than 125 research projects studying COVID-19 testing patterns across the country.

Join us for a virtual town hall organized by CEAL and Medstar Health on COVID & Health Disparities Part II: Fighting COVID through Community Engagement. Panagis Galiatsatos, M.D., M.H.S., assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, will discuss strategies that have helped to increase confidence in the vaccine and the importance of boosters in communities of color.

Heading back to school with the facts about the COVID-19 vaccine
Watch the Univision-NIH CEAL event recording in Spanish
Univision and CEAL hosted a virtual panel to address common questions about COVID-19 vaccines and children. Panelists discuss how the vaccines were developed and why medical experts recommend them for children. Two CEAL Scientific Pathway members, pediatricians Jaime Deville of UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital and Yvonne Maldonado of Stanford University School of Medicine, answer questions in the chat during the event.
