The tool walks you through different scenarios, such as if you’ve had a recent exposure. It also explains how to get tests, helps you understand test results, and makes recommendations on what to do if you test positive.

CDC COVID Data Tracker now shows vaccine totals for young children
CDC’s COVID Data Tracker now includes the number of children ages 5 years and under who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Since June 18, more than 267,000 children ages 6 months to 5 years got at least one dose of either the three-dose pediatric Pfizer vaccine or the two-dose pediatric Moderna vaccine.

In 2020-2021 COVID-19 was a leading cause of death in the United States
COVID-19 was the third leading cause of death in the United States between March 2020 and October 2021, according to an analysis of national death certificate data by National Cancer Institute researchers. The study appears in the July 5 issue of JAMA Internal Medicine.

Tallying the life-saving effects of COVID-19 vaccines
In the first nine months they were available, COVID-19 vaccinations prevented almost 27 million coronavirus infections, 1.6 million hospitalizations, and 235,000 deaths among American adults. Researchers report on this data from December 2020 to September 2021 in a recent issue of JAMA Network Open.
