Making It Plain: A Conversation with Dr. Fauci and the Black Community

Tune in today, December 8, at 6 p.m. ET as NIH’s Dr. Anthony Fauci joins a conversation with the Black Coalition Against COVID-19 to discuss COVID-19 vaccines. In addition to Dr. Fauci, the conversation will feature Howard University president Dr. Wayne Frederick, infectious disease specialist Dr. Siham Mahgoub, National Urban League president Marc Morial, and Ambrose Lane Jr., chair of the Health Alliance Network.

HHS Launches New COVID-19 Website

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) has launched a central web portal called Combat COVID. The portal is a one-stop resource to help doctors and members of the public find information about different stages of COVID-19 illness, NIH-supported COVID-19 prevention and treatment clinical trials, and locations to donate plasma. The website provides clear and easy-to-understand information for:

People who have never had COVID-19 and may be interested in joining a vaccine or other prevention trial
People who have COVID-19 and want to participate in a treatment clinical trial
People who have recovered from COVID-19 and may be interested in donating plasma
Doctors and other healthcare providers who want more information to guide their patients who have COVID-19

The Power of Trust and Truth

NIH leaders Dr. Gary Gibbons and Dr. Eliseo Pérez-Stable co-authored an op-ed encouraging African American and Hispanic/Latino communities to get the facts and trust in science to turn the tide of the pandemic. This op-ed, which is available in English and Spanish, has appeared in media outlets across the country, and we invite you to share it with your communities.

New Survey Highlights Vaccine Hesitancy in Black and Latinx Communities

A new survey from COVID Collaborative, Langer Research, UnidosUS and the NAACP shows that Black and Latinx Americans lack trust in vaccine safety and effectiveness and outlines some recommendations to reach these communities effectively.
