The National Institutes of Health recently funded a new palliative care consortium for research and training, called the Advancing the Science of Palliative Care Research Across the Lifespan (ASCENT) Consortium. ASCENT will provide a national infrastructure for palliative care research that will create new knowledge, develop and train scientists, support the growth of the field through pilot awards, provide methodological consultations, and focus on dissemination and implementation of palliative care best practices.
