EIAP Facilitates the Advancement of ESIs and NIs from Diverse Backgrounds to Attain R01-Type Funding

Early Investigator Advancement Program

The Early Investigator Advancement Program (EIAP) will accept applications from October 1 through November 1, 2024, for its fourth cohort of EIAP Scholars.

Those interested in applying to EIAP should attend the pre-application webinar on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. ET. Register to attend the webinar.

Each year, EIAP supports the professional and career development of a cohort of 20-25 eligible and qualified early-stage investigators and new investigators from institutions across the country.

EIAP aims to:

  • Enhance professional skills;
  • Guide the preparation of an R01 grant application;
  • Provide access to a mentor and peer network; and
  • Grow a community of emerging established investigators from diverse backgrounds.

EIAP applications must be submitted by November 1, 2024. Applicants should request the institution letter and references as soon as possible so that they can be included with their application. Applicants are encouraged to review the resources on the EIAP webpage and to email the EIAP team to inform the team of their interest. The target start date is February 12, 2025.

NCI values diversity and particularly encourages applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the cancer research workforce—for example, those from the groups noted in the Notice of NIH’s Interest in Diversity (NOT-OD-20-031).
