Brentuximab May Mean Less Radiation for Children, Teens with Hodgkin Lymphoma

In a recent phase 2 clinical trial, using brentuximab vedotin (Adcetris) instead of the chemotherapy drug vincristine allowed some children and teens with advanced Hodgkin lymphoma to avoid radiation therapy—and the long-term health problems that can come with it.

Comparing Surgery Methods to Prevent Ovarian Cancer in Women at High Risk

This trial will compare how well two surgical procedures work in reducing the risk of ovarian cancer in women with mutations in the BRCA1 gene. One group of women will have their ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. The other women will have only their fallopian tubes removed. Women with mutated BRCA1 genes face a much higher risk of ovarian and other cancers.

Reducing Cancer-Related Fatigue in Breast Cancer Survivors

This phase 3 trial studies how well bupropion (Wellbutrin) works in reducing cancer-related fatigue in survivors of stage I, II, or III breast cancer. Bupropion is usually used to treat depression, as well as to help people quit smoking.

Combination PET/CT Scan before Surgery for Men with Prostate Cancer

This phase 2 study will use positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) with radioactive material to try to identify places in the body where prostate cancer has spread. The trial is investigating whether using this type of imaging scan before the prostate is surgically removed can predict if prostate cancer will return.
