Abiraterone Improves Survival for Some Men with Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer

 

Two large clinical trials presented at this year’s annual ASCO meeting demonstrated that adding the hormone-blocking drug abiraterone to androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) allowed men with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer to live longer than men who were treated with ADT alone.

Clinical Trial Seeks to Determine if Two Targeted Drugs Are Better Than One

 

This ongoing clinical trial is enrolling patients with newly diagnosed metastatic non-small cell lung cancer that tests positive for a mutation in the EGFR gene. Doctors want to know if combining afatinib (Gilotrif®) with cetuximab (Erbitux®) improves survival better than afatinib alone for these patients.

Heated Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy and Surgery in Treating Patients with Stomach Cancer and Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

 

This phase 2 clinical trial studies how well heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy and surgery work in treating patients with stomach cancer that has spread to the peritoneum, the tissue that lines the wall of the abdomen and abdominal organs.
