April is Stress Awareness Month—a good time to find out about ways to manage stress to improve your mental and physical health.

There is no drug to cure stress. But we do have access to a built-in “stress reset button” called the relaxation response, which slows heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and decreases oxygen consumption and levels of stress hormones. Certain mind and body practices such as mindfulness exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and slow, deep breathing can produce this response.
