Acupuncture involves the stimulation of specific points on the body—most often by inserting needles through the skin. It may be used to help manage pain.

Research results indicate that acupuncture may help relieve knee pain associated with osteoarthritis and low-back pain. It may help reduce the frequency of tension headaches and prevent migraine headaches. It may also help relieve some fibromyalgia symptoms.
