Some psychological and physical complementary health approaches (also called mind and body practices) have shown promise as elements of a program of lifestyle change to help lower blood pressure.

Research results suggest that meditation, tai chi, qi gong, and yoga may have small beneficial effects on blood pressure in people with hypertension (high blood pressure).

If you’re interested in trying one of these practices to help control your blood pressure, talk with your health care provider. Some practices may need to be modified to make them safe for people with health conditions.
