Who: SBIR/STTR applicants interested in free customized coaching for the January 2021 application cycle
The Applicant Assistance Program (AAP) is accepting applications for those who are interested in receiving coaching to apply for the January 2021 SBIR/STTR application cycle. The deadline to apply for coaching is September 24, 2020.
The AAP is geared toward helping small businesses apply for Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding. AAP provides participants with services such as application needs assessment, mentoring, application preparation support, and application review.
Topics to be covered include:
- SBIR/STTR program basics
- Eligibility criteria
- AAP information
- How to write an application for AAP
One of the goals of AAP is to increase participation in the SBIR/STTR program by businesses that are owned or controlled by individuals who are traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. Therefore, NIH is particularly interested in applications from socially/economically disadvantaged small businesses (SDB), women-owned small business (WOSB), and small businesses located in under-represented states. Program eligibility is limited to small businesses who have not previously won an SBIR or STTR award from the NIH. Applications must fit within the mission of the participating Institutes/Centers to receive consideration.
