Complementary health approaches, especially forms of meditation, are being studied for health and wellness, including for:

  • Helping to prevent mental, emotional, and behavioral problems.
  • Promoting psychological and physical health, well-being, and resilience.

One of our top scientific priorities in our 2016 strategic plan is to focus on complementary health practices for health and wellness. We hope that during the next 5 to 10 years, the research we support in this area will lead to more specific complementary approaches for use in different settings, such as schools, medical centers, and homeless shelters.
