Thinking
of trying a complementary health approach to help you quit smoking? Several mind and body practices, including
meditation-based therapies, yoga, and guided imagery (a relaxation technique)
may help reduce cigarette use and cravings, studies suggest. But dietary
supplements, acupuncture, and hypnosis
don’t appear to work. Conventional quit-smoking treatments, including
counseling and medication, can double or triple the chances you will kick the
habit successfully. For more information, check out the National Cancer Institute
Web site smokefree.gov and our fact
sheet at http://1.usa.gov/1OAUP66.
