We’re heading to Austin, Texas, for this year’s American Pain Society Annual Meeting from May 11-14. Visit us at Booth #309 and learn more about about NCCIH's high-priority research areas at the scientific sessions mentioned in Dr. Emmeline Edwards' blog below.
Emmeline Edwards, Ph.D.
- Session 301, titled Role of Cannabinoids in Chronic Pain—Translational Approaches. This session, scheduled for Thursday, May 12, and organized in collaboration with the National Institute on Drug Abuse, will assess the potential of exploiting the cannabinoid system for the development of treatments for chronic pain.
- Session 401, titled Can Complementary and Integrative Approaches for Pain Management Engage Brain Circuitry of Endogenous Pain Modulation? This session, scheduled for Friday, May 13, will explore innovative neuroscience research directions to harness and optimize the responses in neural circuits to influence endogenous pain modulation. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with NCCIH program staff and discuss NCCIH research priorities and current funding announcements.
In keeping with the Center’s commitment to workforce development, NCCIH program staff will also participate in the Early Career Forum, where they will engage and facilitate discussions with pain researchers and clinician investigators on a variety of career development strategies. In addition, they will provide guidance to APS investigators at the National Institutes of Health Workshop on Successful Grant Writing and Funding Opportunities in Pain Research (W700).
We hope that you can join us at APS and participate in all of these sessions!
