NIH CEAL launches program to improve health outcomes for American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders |
|
 NIH CEAL is excited to announce a new program that supports research within American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AI/AN NHPI) populations. The program will address disparities in social and structural determinants of health impacting the prevention and management of chronic diseases and emerging public health threats in these populations. The research will be led by the University of Hawaii, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, with projects in Washington, Utah, Arkansas, Hawaii, Alaska, South Dakota, and six U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands.
Chicagoland CEAL connects community to care through food pantries
Food insecurity can lead to an increased risk of chronic disease. When the Chicagoland CEAL team carried out health screenings at community food pantries, they discovered high rates of undiagnosed or undertreated high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney disease, and they connected the community members to care.

Global peer-reviewed database provides curated research on the science of climate impacts on human health
The National Institute of Environmental Health Science’s Climate Change and Human Health Literature Portal is a database of English-language publications from around the world. The curated database includes research from the biomedical, ecological, and geophysical sciences.
