Dengue Vaccine Research Study
Investigators with the Viral Epidemiology and Immunity Unit (VEIU) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are looking for people between 18 and 59 years of age to participate in our Dengue vaccine trial.
Dengue is a viral disease that is spread between people by mosquitos. It is found in tropical and sub-tropical areas and affects millions worldwide each year. A severe case of dengue can cause bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure, or death.
We want to see if our study vaccine is safe and can make an immune response. We also want to see if side effects and immune responses are different depending upon a person’s previous dengue infections.
You may be eligible if you:
- Are 18 – 59 years old
- In general good health
- Have a history of dengue infection or lived in place where dengue is common OR have no history of exposure to dengue
Once enrolled, this study involves:
- 11-13 in-person study visits
- Physical exam
- Blood draws
- Questionnaires
- You will receive one dengue vaccine
- Safety monitoring
- Optional lymph node aspiration (up to 4)
- Time commitment between 7 to 14 months
There is no cost for participation and compensation up to $2,655 will be provided upon completion of the study.
