Two current funding opportunities, Humanities Initiatives at Presidentially-Designated Institutions
and Humanities Initiatives at Community
Colleges, will award up to $100,000 for successful projects.
Institutions eligible to apply to the Humanities
Initiatives program may submit the same application to both programs, however
they may accept only one offer/award.

These awards help strengthen
the teaching and study of the humanities in subjects such as history, philosophy, literature,
religion, interpretation of the arts, and composition and writing skills. Activities
supported by Humanities Initiatives
include developing or substantially enhancing bridge programs, creating or
revising courses, and infusing humanities learning into professional training.

Humanities Initiatives at Hispanic-Serving
Institutions
·
Humanities Initiatives at Historically
Black Colleges and Universities
·
Humanities Initiatives at Tribal Colleges
and Universities
Projects
need not be related to the cultural identity of the applicant institution. Applicants
are encouraged to draw on the knowledge of outside scholars who would
contribute expertise and fresh insights to the project.

Designed to support
community colleges’ commitment to educating students on a variety of
educational and career paths, Humanities
Initiatives at Community Colleges funds curricular and faculty development
projects that help strengthen humanities and/or incorporate humanistic
approaches in fields outside the humanities.
