You are invited to join SelectUSA’s upcoming webinar on Understanding the U.S. Accelerator Landscape. This may be of particular interest to international start-ups interested in expanding or establishing operations in the United States.
The United States is home to many accelerators and other organizations that support startups in establishing operations around the country, and there are opportunities for companies that are new to the U.S. market to engage with them. This webinar will focus on providing an overview of the current U.S. accelerator landscape and the other organizations that complement their support with additional resources, funding, and services.
This session will begin with an overview of federal resources available to companies interested in establishing or expanding operations in the United States. Sarah Cole, author of a report SelectUSA will release in conjunction with this webinar titled Accelerating Support for Startups in the United States, will then give a short presentation on how accelerators are currently supporting start-ups across the United States. The session will close with an open Q&A session.
There are two times available to attend, register for the one that works best with your schedule!

POWER CA (Partners for Ocean, Wind and Energy Renewables in California) will be an opportunity for participants to learn more about the socio-political and economic landscape behind the emerging offshore wind industry in California.
California maintains a vision of becoming carbon neutral by 2045. I.e., see Executive Order issued by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. and passage of Senate Bill 100 in 2018. This vision is critical to sustaining future generations and to protect the State of California, especially as global average temperatures continue to rise. Scientists agree that emissions and sinks of carbon emission must be net zero by the second half of the century.
In 2020, Governor Newsom furthered this response to the ongoing climate crisis by signing Executive Order N-82-20 which called for a comprehensive and collaborative strategy to protect climate-vulnerable communities, defend biodiversity, achieve carbon neutrality, and to improve public health, safety, and economic prosperity pertaining to climate change mitigation.
The advancement of offshore wind (OSW) has been widely recognized as a tangible and viable vehicle to achieve these State climate goals. On this matter, California Governor Newsome has said, “Developing offshore wind to produce clean, renewable energy could be a game changer to achieving California’s clean energy goals and addressing climate change – all while bolstering the economy and creating new jobs.” - California Announces Historic Agreement with Federal Partners to Advance Offshore Wind Development, May 25, 2021
The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) also plans to offer an OSW lease sale as early as 2022 within a 399-square-mile area of the coast of California. This lease area includes the coastline of Humboldt County which has been identified as having top wind speeds and ideal wind conditions to accommodate the State’s OSW goals. Accordingly, in January 11, 2021, BOEM issued a News Release announcing the availability of findings for the Humboldt Wind Energy Area (WEA) which is located approximately 20 miles off Humboldt County, California.
