Chicago Regional Growth Corporation Offers ExporTech™ to Help Local Companies Develop Export Plans This hands-on, content rich program involves a unique combination of innovative group sessions, customized market research and individualized coaching that takes place over three, day-long training sessions.  Normally this unique program costs $5,000, but will be offered for $750 for qualified companies located in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.  The next session of ExporTech™ will begin on May 20.  For information and to apply, please see: https://chicagoregionalgrowth.com/export/exportech/

March 17, 2020 @ 10:00am-12:00pm: China Market Roundtable Briefing & One-on-One Export Counseling – Chicago

U.S. companies seeking to understand the current business landscape in China and expand their export sales can join a roundtable briefing and optional one-on-one export counseling meetings with China experts from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce. Commercial Officers from Beijing and Shanghai have helped many U.S. companies access opportunities in China. Their portfolios include following industries: Agricultural Equipment; Automotive; Franchising, Retail, Consumer Goods; Biotech; Healthcare; Information Communication Technology; SmartTech. No fee to attend, but registration is required. To register for the roundtable briefing and/or 30-minute counseling appointment, email Dan.Kim@trade.gov.  Roundtable briefing and one-on-one meetings will be hosted by the State of Illinois Office of Trade & Investment and take place in downtown Chicago. May 19, 2020 @ 8:30am-3:00pm: Doing Business in Asia Workshop – Glen Ellyn

The Business School of Governors State University and the Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at College of DuPage will host a “Doing Business in Asia” event highlighting business opportunities in China, Japan, and Singapore. One of the featured speakers will include U.S. Commercial Service Chicago Trade Specialist Monica Toporkiewicz who will present export assistance program information from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce.  Venue: College of DuPage main campus - 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. March 5, 2020 @ 10:00am CT: Updates to EU Product Safety Legislation

This webinar is for companies who sell products to the EU that are CE Marked and want to know the potential new changes.There are upcoming possible revisions to major directives such as the Machinery Directive and the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive. There are new requirements to designate a “responsible person” in the EU by mid-2021 under the newly passed “Goods Package”. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive affecting all electronic and electrical equipment manufacturers is undergoing a review due by July 2021.Learn about these changes impact all sectors (except food), from construction to ICT, energy, transport, environment, and more! May 31- June 5, 2020: Trade Mission to the Caribbean

Organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce, this mission will include the Trade Americas – Business Opportunities in the Caribbean Conference in Bridgetown, Barbados on May 31-June 1, 2020. The mission is open to U.S. companies from a cross section of industries with growing potential in the Caribbean region, but is focused on U.S. companies in best prospects sectors such as: Automotive Parts and Services; Construction Equipment/Road Building Machinery/Building Products/Infrastructure projects; Medical Equipment and Devices/Pharmaceuticals; ICT; Energy Equipment and Services; Safety and Security Equipment; Hotel and Restaurant Equipment; Franchise; Manufacturing Equipment; Yachting industry/Maritime services/Sailing Equipment. April 28, 2020: Virtual Education Fair using Virtual Reality with Ukraine!

 The U.S. Commercial Service Global Education Team is offering a Virtual Education Fairs using virtual reality technology (VR VEF) with Ukraine - April 28, 2020 at 9 am EST.

  • Present to top recruitment agents and high school counselors at the U.S. embassy
  • Provide a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation highlighting your programs
  • Showcase your campus and town sites with a 2-3 minute 360-degree video. *Schools without 360-degree videos may provide a standard video, if available*
  • Receive a Welcome Kit with updated education market information and profiles of top education recruitment partners and high school counselor in-country
  • Participants will be trained on using the online platform technology prior to the program

Who Should Participate: Appropriately accredited U.S. secondary education institutions, community colleges with high quality transfer options, and undergraduate programs. Technology and 360-Degree Videos:Interested educational institutions will be asked to provide a 2-3 minute 360-degree video for use during this program. *Schools without 360-degree videos may provide a standard video, if available.*

May 4-7, 2020: International B2B and Market Counseling at WasteExpo – New Orleans The U.S. Commercial Service will once again partner with WasteExpo to connect participating U.S. companies with international buyers and to provide market counseling from our visiting U.S. Commercial Specialists from markets around the world.  WasteExpo is North America’s largest tradeshow and conference for the waste, recycling, and organics industry.
