Colby Warzecha Hired as Export Assistant at U.S. Commercial Service North Dakota
Colby Warzecha has joined the U.S. Commercial Service in Fargo as an export assistant. Colby is a student at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, double majoring in Economics and Political Science. He studies the role of Economics in policy and is looking forward to a career in public policy, particularly in trade and economic development. He founded the Political Science Student Association, and he also served as the Director of Governmental Affairs for the North Dakota Student Association. When Colby is not in the office, he enjoys swing dancing, Nordic Skiing, working out, rock climbing, and reading a good book.

Kole Nichols, CS North Dakota Export Assistant, Leaves Post for D.C. Internships
Kole Nichols, a Student at North Dakota State University and Intern at CS North Dakota will be leaving his post to pursue two other internship opportunities. This summer, Kole will be working in OSHA at the U.S. Department of Labor. In the Fall, he will work in the Office of Investment Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Both internship opportunities are in Washington, D.C. Kole will miss the fall semester of his senior year to participate in the State Department Internship and is expected to Graduate in the Spring from NDSU with degrees in Economics and Political Science.

Local Success Story - PRx Performance Muscles their way into Canada
PRx Performance, based in Fargo, ND, manufactures and sells patented space-saving squat racks and gym equipment. CEO Brian Brasch and President Erik Hopperstad founded the company in 2013 and brought it to the NBC show, Shark Tank, in 2016. From there, business exploded. US Commercial Service Now Hiring International Trade Specialists in Columbus, Des Moines, and Memphis
The US Commercial Service has three openings for standalone Office Director / International Trade Specialist positions. Job openings in the U.S. Field Operations of the U.S. Commercial Service are a rare occurrence. International Trade Specialists (TSs) work with local companies in their region to expand exports, addressing critical needs of companies, facilitating matchmaking, coordinating trade events, promoting inward investments from abroad, and staying abreast of trade development initiatives in key industries and world regions. The TS establishes relationships and partnerships with local stakeholders, government agencies and oversees posts to facilitate U.S. exporters with export programs and strategies to meet export market development objectives. Incoterms are a set of rules which define the responsibilities of sellers and buyers for the delivery of goods under sales contracts. This conference will teach attendees about the revision process, dos and don'ts, a summary of major recent changes, and a general overview of a number of other aspects of Incoterms. China Excludes Certain Food Products from Tariff Increase
China announced on May 13th that it would increase tariffs ranging from 5 to 25 percent on 5,140 US products, worth $60 billion, as retaliation for a recent US tariff hike. Major U.S. agricultural products, such as pork, soybeans, wheat, sorghum, and others aren't included on the list. Most of the products that will have added tariffs are electronic products. Heather Ranck at 2019 Select USA Summit

CS North Dakota Presence at Select USA Summit in D.C.
U.S. Commercial Service / North Dakota's Office Director Heather Ranck also serves as the Rural Team Leader for the International Trade Administration. In that role, Ranck traveled to the Select USA Summit in Washington, DC from June 10-12, with the goal of encouraging the 3,000+ pre-screened international investors at the event of the value of investing in rural regions of the US. She led a panel on Investing in Rural America, with speakers from Montana World Trade Center, the Tennessee Valley Authority, a Dutch cold storage company that recently made a significant investment in rural Idaho and Avangrid, a Spanish-affiliated energy operator. Cabinet secretaries and key economic advisors including Wilbur Ross, Ben Carson, Steve Mnuchin, Rick Perry, Ivanka Trump and Larry Kudlow also spoke at the event, touting the benefits of investing in the USA. Governors from Mississippi, Puerto Rico, Kentucky, Indiana, Oklahoma also spoke. North Dakota and Minnesota's state governments had booths in the expo hall. Additional Duty Becomes Effective on List 3 Chinese Products
U.S. Trade Representatives announced on May 9th, 2019 that there will be an additional duty place on List 3 Chinese Goods. The announcement results in a 25 percent increased duty rate on all relevant goods that are exported on or after May 10th, 2019, or that enter the United States after June 1, 2019. World's Largest Medical Trade Show being Held in Germany
Medica, the world's largest Medical Trade Show, will occur on November 18th - 21st in  Dusseldorf, Germany. This event will be hosted by the U.S. Commercial Service and there is expected to be upwards of 120 thousand visitors. A number of additional services are offered for attendance. The USCS and the American Embassy in Bangkok is promoting the Future Energy Asia 2020 event. This event focuses on future energy solutions for the Asian Pacific Region. The Dutch Energy Market is currently dominated by fossil fuels. The Netherlands is currently looking to import high-caloric gas from Russia and LNG from Qatar, Australia and the United States to meet demand due to dropping domestic gas production. In addition, there is a Discover Global Markets Conference in Houston Texas on Sept. 30th - Oct. 2nd, 2019 where attendees will learn about Energy Markets in Africa and the Middle East. Click here to learn more.

Join the U.S. Commercial New York and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations for the 6th annual “Doing Business with the United Nations” Seminar in New York City on Thursday, July 18th, 2019.For more information, click here.
