Highlights from the SelectUSA Team in London
 Central South Carolina Alliance - London Event
On October 26, the SelectUSA UK team welcomed the Central South Carolina Alliance economic development team for a single location promotion event. Deputy Chief of Mission Lewis Lukens was in attendance and gave the welcome remarks, highlighting the importance of UK investment in the United States.
The event was hosted to promote South Carolina as a prime destination for investment. President and CEO of the Central SC Alliance, Mike Briggs, gave a presentation on the region and Scott Tolson, CEO of Sigmatex – a UK investor in the region – spoke as part of a company testimonial.

 UK Seminars in Durham & Edinburgh
In September, SelectUSA and the U.S. Commercial Service joined the Council of American States in Europe (CASE) for a series of seminars in Durham and Edinburgh. Both seminars focused on doing business in the United States and featured one-on-one meetings with representatives from economic development organizations in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky and Virginia.
The seminar in Durham was attended by 40 guests, hosted in collaboration with the UK Department of International Trade, Avitus Group, Santander, Womble Bond Dickinson, and the local chamber of commerce. The Edinburgh event saw 70 visitors and was hosted by Scottish North American Business Council in collaboration with RSM.

Registration for the 2019 SelectUSA Investment Summit is open and recruitment is in full swing. On June 10-12, 2019, British companies will join our team at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. for the top FDI event in the United States.

   FDI from the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom remains the top source of FDI in the United States. The Bureau of Economic Analysis released the latest FDI data for employment, exports, and research and development spending. Highlights include:
- Total stock: $614.9 billion (2017)
- U.S. Jobs directly supported: 1.2 million (2016)
- U.S. goods exports: $46.5 billion (2016)
- R&D spending: $8.9 billion (2016)
