PTIN Renewal Reminder
Dear Tax Professional,
We’re writing to remind you to renew your IRS preparer tax identification number (PTIN). Our records show that, as of 11/30/2012 you haven’t renewed your PTIN for 2013. Your PTIN will expire on December 31, 2012 unless you renew it. If you plan to prepare returns for compensation in 2013 or if you’re an enrolled agent, you must renew your PTIN. The simplest and fastest method to renew is online.
Logging Into Your Account
If you do not remember your login information or no longer have access to the email address you established your IRS PTIN account under, use the Forgot Password, User ID or Inaccessible Email Address functions on the PTIN system to reset your user ID or password or email address.
You can also view tips here for help logging into your account and renewing your PTIN.
Paper applications
If you prefer to renew your PTIN on paper, please submit Form W-12, IRS Paid Preparer Tax Identification Number Application and Renewal. Paper renewals are generally processed in 4 to 6 weeks.
