You can log in to Direct File to start your return and complete it anytime - using the step-by-step Direct File Checklist - before the April filing deadline. 2. UPDATED: Direct File adds new import features to help taxpayers save time and file accurate returns In addition to importing information from their W-2 and IRS online account, Direct File users can now use two new data import features to help get their tax filing right the first time:
Many taxpayers don't know they have a Form 1095-A and do not include it on their return, which is the No. 1 reason for rejected tax returns across all filing methods.
