IVES TFA API Test Environment

Communication # 1 eServices API User Guide

Dear IVES Participants,

The Taxpayer First Act (TFA) Application Program Interface (API) test environment is opened for IVES Participant testing. Current plans are for it to remain available for successive testing through 2023. The attached documents, IRS eServices API Authorization User Guide and fbpA2A User Guide v1.0, provides programmers and system administrators with the preliminary requirements to successfully interact with the TFA API and its test environment.

Due to the size of the two User Guides, there will be two communications that contain one User Guide each.

The IRS eServices API Authorization User Guide provides instructions on how to register and get the proper authorization to utilize the assets of e-Services APIs. Participants who have already gone through the registration process for other e-Services APIs, do not need to reregister. (eServices User Guide is available in communication # 1)

All participants planning on utilizing the TFA API must follow the instructions supplied in the fbpA2A User Guide v2.0 for software programming. This document will provide detailed information on software operations, software modeling, and software testing procedures. It is required that any participant planning to use the TFA API in production must first utilize the test environment as verification of successful programming. (fbpA2A User Guide is available in communication # 2)

Participants who encounter issues registering for the eServices API or with technical questions over the fbpA2A User Guide should contact the eServices helpdesk at 866-255-0654.

Participants with business concerns over the IVES program or volunteering to provide feedback as an external tester should email the HQ staff at wi.ives.participant.assistance@irs.gov.

Thank you,

IRS IVES Team
