2.  Tax Security 101: Data Theft Reporting for Tax Professionals

In the final installment of the 10-part Tax Security 101 series, the IRS and its Security Summit partners urge tax professionals to report data theft immediately and follow the necessary steps to help the IRS protect their clients. If notified timely, the IRS can stop fraudulent tax returns.

3.  Small Business, Self-Employed Clients? Third Quarter Estimated Tax Payment Due Sept. 17

Do you have small business or self-employed clients? Remind them that meeting their tax obligation normally includes making quarterly estimated tax payments. Small businesses, self-employed individuals, retirees, investors and others who pay quarterly taxes must pay their third estimated tax payment for 2018 by Monday, Sept. 17.

5.  IRS Announces Five Large Business and International Compliance Campaigns

The IRS Large Business and International division (LB&I) has announced the approval of five additional compliance campaigns. LB&I announced on January 31, 2017, the rollout of its first 13 campaigns, followed by 11 campaigns on November 3, 2017, five campaigns on March 13, 2018, six campaigns on May 21, 2018, and five more on July 2, 2018.

6.  IRS Issues Proposed Regulations on Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income for U.S. Shareholders

The Internal Revenue Service issued proposed regulations concerning global intangible low-taxed income under section 951A and related sections of the Internal Revenue Code.
