1. Identity Theft Information for Tax Professionals
Tax professionals play a critical role in assisting clients, both individuals and businesses, who are victims of tax-related identity theft. This new fact sheet explains what tax-related identity theft is and what to do if it happens to one of your clients.
Separately, the IRS advised senior taxpayers to remain alert to aggressive and threatening phone calls from criminals impersonating IRS agents. The callers claim to be IRS employees but are not.

2. Taxpayer Advocacy Panel Announces New Members for 2017, Seeks Applications for 2018
Twenty four new members have been selected to serve on the nationwide Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP). The TAP is a federal advisory committee, which provides taxpayer suggestions to improve IRS customer service.
Individuals interested in volunteering to serve on the TAP for 2018 may submit an application during the current recruiting period, open now through April 24.

3. March 28 Webinar: Large Business and International Compliance Campaigns
The IRS Large Business and International Division will participate in the second in a series of webinars to provide tax practitioners with information about its new compliance campaigns. EY (Ernst & Young LLP) will host this webinar, which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, at 1 p.m. EDT. The one-hour webinar will discuss the campaign process, how campaigns are being implemented and how they will impact taxpayers.

5. Technical Guidance
Revenue Procedure 2017-25 establishes the Small Business/Self Employed Fast Track Settlement program (SB/SE FTS) to provide an expedited format for resolving disputes with Small Business/Self Employed (SB/SE) taxpayers.
Revenue Procedure 2017-28 provides guidance to employers on the requirements for employee consent used by an employer to support a claim for refund of overpaid taxes under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) and the Railroad Retirement Tax Act (RRTA).
