In preparation for the end of year filing and the upcoming 2016 Filing Season, the IRS reminds tax professionals to review the instructions for completing the Form 8453 and Form 8879. See Publication 4163 Section 3.6.3 for instructions on scanning the Forms 8453. See Publication 4164 for specific information on the use of Form 8453 as a transmittal document for Form 1040 only. You should not mail any version of the Form 8879 to the IRS.
