Everyone 16+ is eligible for a vaccine
Now, all people age 16 and up are eligible for a #COVID19 vaccine!
We have real-world data that the COVID-19 vaccines WORK, and the COVID-19 vaccines have already saved lives. One of the most important things we all can do to protect our loved ones—and to get back to the things we love—is to get vaccinated.
As you can see in the CDC's latest COVID Data Tracker above, immunization rates are nearing herd immunity among senior populations (age 65+) but are still below 50% for all other age groups. Now that all people 16 and up are eligible for the vaccine, you can play an important part in increasing vaccination rates in your community!
Update on the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Vaccine Pause
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced they are reviewing data involving a small number of reported cases of a rare and serious type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine. Out of an abundance of caution, FDA and CDC recommended a pause in the use of the J&J vaccine as they review the data.
These blood clots are extremely rare, and those who received the J&J vaccine have a very low risk for developing blood clots.
This Friday, April 23, 2021, CDC’s independent advisory committee, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, will meet again to review these reports, and assess their potential significance.
In the meantime, there is still confidence in the overall supply of COVID-19 vaccines for the country.
Please monitor @CDCgov for real-time updates, and we will continue to share the latest information as we learn more.

CDC Vaccine Confidence Bootcamps!
Co-hosted with CDC, this hands-on training will introduce participants to basic vaccine confidence concepts, best practices and offer practical advice on successful communication, community engagement and troubleshooting techniques.
Participants will also have a chance to share their own advice and best practices, and in small groups, explore the barriers and enablers to vaccine uptake in their communities. Participants will also be linked to tools to diagnose and address vaccine confidence issues and communications resources for difference audiences.
A pathfinder cohort from HUD-assisted communities will be offered an initial training through the CDC, with additional sessions to come. Trainings are a couple of hours over Zoom, including breakout sessions. A device with video and audio capabilities, and a strong and fast internet connection is required.
