Dear Executive Directors,
Welcome to the inaugural PIH COVID-19 Bulletin!
Today, PIH is launching this bulletin to ensure that you, your staff, residents, and community partners are informed of the latest COVID-19 vaccine information available to increase access to the vaccine and end the pandemic. Please share this bulletin widely. To receive future bulletins, please click on the subscribe button below.
I am also pleased to share that PIH just released guidance for PHAs on supporting access to COVID-19 vaccinations for residents and staff. The guidance covers the use of CARES Act funds to support access to vaccinations, employer considerations, and what activities should be funded from other, non-HUD sources. Through this guidance, PIH affirms that for the public housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs, supporting access to vaccines helps prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.
Thank you for all of your efforts to enhance the wellbeing of residents and staff during these unprecedented times. If you have questions, please send them to PIH-COVID@hud.gov.
Many thanks,

Work with your Health Center to Vaccinate!
Through the Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program, 1,470 community health centers across the country—including 108 Public Housing Primary Care (PHCP) grantees—have been invited to receive and distribute additional federally provided vaccines to their communities, many of which serve public housing and other HUD-assisted residents.
You can partner with your local health center to improve vaccine confidence and access in your community through public health and vaccine distribution events.

Host a HUD Strong Families Vaccine Event!
Every year HUD supports communities across the county in celebrating Strong Families with resources to promote health, education, and economic empowerment through Mother's Day and Father's Day events.
With vaccination at the forefront this year, your HUD Strong Families events in May and June are perfect opportunities to offer on-site vaccination in collaboration with your health partners and local vaccine providers!
Don't forget to tell us about your community's planned HUD Strong Families events. You can register your events below:

April is National Minority Health Month!
The theme for National Minority Health Month this year is #VaccineReady. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on racial and ethnic minority communities, and it is important to raise awareness about the need for communities to get vaccinated. Here’s how everyone can ensure they are #VaccineReady:
- Understand how the COVID-19 vaccines work.
- Get the vaccine when it is your turn.
- Learn more about what to expect after getting the vaccine.
- Check with your doctor if you have questions or concerns about side effects.
- Use the CDC's VaccineFinder to find out where you can get vaccinated.
