HUD Strong Families 2019

#HUDStrongFamilies: Welcome Back Edition!

Dear Community Champion,

With the start of spring comes the launch of #HUDStrongFamilies for 2019!

What is #HUDStrongFamilies all about?

#HUDStrongFamilies programming provides an opportunity to connect fathers, mothers, and children in the communities we serve to Education, Health and Economic Empowerment resources. #HUDStrongFamilies events are an opportunity to support families in your neighborhood and the entire community!

Here's what you achieved in 2018

HUD's Book Rich Environments collaboration brought more than 100,000 books to #HUDStrongFamilies events! Check out the photo from Phoenix below, and read Secretary Carson's BRE endorsement.

HUD STEM Innovation Networks brought 148 young men and women hands-on experience building robots, bridges, ships and airplanes in an environment that builds confidence, self-esteem and team building skills.

Fathers AND Mothers matter!

Many of you have been with us since the inception of HUD's Father's Day initiative in 2011, and we were thrilled to see the outpouring of participation with the inclusion of mothers last year. As Secretary Carson has said, "One of the greatest single determinants of a child’s future is the active and loving engagement of all parental figures, including fathers, mothers, step-parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, mentors, and others.”

How will you include mothers in your HUD Strong Families events? What empowering resources will you provide to them? We encourage you to share your stories to inspire others, and in doing so, you might just discover some great ideas you would like to incorporate into your event this year!

Remember: Mother's and Father's Day are in May & June, but you can host #HUDStrongFamilies events anytimefeel free to be creative on the day you celebrate HUD Strong Families in your community.

Looking forward to another successful year!
