 Announcement: Bonitta Smith Appointed Southeast Regional Director
The Office of Multifamily Housing Programs is pleased to announce the appointment of Bonitta Smith as the Multifamily Southeast Regional Director.
With more than 30 years of experience in Multifamily Housing, Bonitta brings a comprehensive perspective shaped by her work across Production, Asset Management, and leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. She has been a steady and inspiring leader in the Southeast Region, serving as Acting Regional Director for over a year. During that time, she provided exceptional leadership and guided the region to exceed its 2025 national multifamily performance goals. She is a graduate of HUD’s Emerging Leaders Program, Leadership Development Program, and a recipient of the Federal Executive Association Supervisory Leadership Award and the 2022 Secretary’s Award for cross-collaboration with Field Policy Management.
Bonitta remains deeply committed to expanding affordable housing and fostering strong partnerships with industry stakeholders to ensure the long-term strength and viability of the Southeast’s multifamily portfolio.
