2024 UDS Manual

2024 Uniform Data System Manual

The 2024 Uniform Data System (UDS) Manual (PDF) is now available. It provides detailed reporting instructions and example data tables that support calendar year (CY) 2024 UDS reporting. All HRSA-supported health centers must submit a full, aggregated 2024 legacy UDS report within HRSA’s Electronic Handbooks (EHBs) by February 15, 2025.

Changes, as outlined in the 2024 UDS Program Assistance Letter (PDF), include:

  • Updates to UDS clinical quality measure specifications to align with current CMS electronic-specified clinical quality measures (eCQMs)
  • Reporting the number of health center patients screened for family planning needs, including contraceptive methods

The manual also includes information about UDS de-identified patient-level submission (UDS+) in Appendix G. For CY 2024 UDS reporting (in 2025), we will require a minimum submission for UDS+. (Learn more on our UDS Modernization Initiative webpage.) We will share additional details and guidance in late summer. Health centers will continue to submit aggregated legacy UDS data through EHBs as the official submission of record.

Learn more at our upcoming webinar. We will share additional details and guidance on 2024 UDS+ requirements later this summer.

FAQs on Quality Improvement Award UDS+ Funding

Last week, we announced that we will award $55 million in one-time fiscal year (FY) 2024 funding to all HRSA-funded health centers in June. This funding is intended to support health centers in preparing for and implementing programs and technologies to ensure high-quality, patient-level data submissions as part of UDS modernization (UDS+). Read the bulletin.

Here are some of the questions we’ve received:

Q: Will we need to apply for this supplemental funding or will you award the funds directly to us?
A: There will not be an application process. We will award the funding directly as a supplement to each active HRSA-funded health center’s operational (H80) grant award. The award notice will include all terms and other reporting requirements associated with this funding.

Q: How much will we receive?
A: We are applying a formula including a base amount and a per patient amount based on 2023 UDS patient data.

Q: Will look-alikes receive this funding?
A: No. Only HRSA-funded health centers (i.e., those that receive an active Health Center Program H80 award) are eligible.

Visit our Quality Improvement Award: UDS+ webpage for more information.

Correction: Grantee Satisfaction Survey

On Friday, we sent a bulletin reminding you to take the 2024 Grantee Satisfaction Survey. We mistakenly stated that Project Directors received a link to the survey within EHBs. The personalized survey links were directly emailed to Project Directors (not sent through EHBs).

We apologize for the confusion and hope that those of you who receive the survey will participate. Email HRSAGranteeSurvey@hrsa.gov if you have questions.

Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month

We provide timely and innovative technical assistance (TA) on behavioral health/substance use disorder (SUD) service integration topics you request. For example, opioid use disorder services, pediatric mental health services, and billing and coding. We offer TA in different formats: webinars and communities of practice, both on-site and virtual. Take time this month to check out available opportunities on our TA website.

We’ve seen increased participation in this TA and your colleagues have great things to say about it:

“This training helped us start a new behavioral health technician program to help medical providers connect individuals in need to behavioral health services.”

“Thanks to these invaluable resources, we now have the knowledge that we needed to capture billable patient encounters.

We also share upcoming webinars on important topics (visit the registration pages for dates/times):

  • Integrating MOUD into Your Rural Health Centers: Join a brief overview of opioid use morbidity and mortality in rural populations. Speakers will define the essential elements of integrated medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), explain each one’s function, and describe steps for integrating MOUD into existing services. They’ll also describe MOUD delivery models successfully implemented in rural health centers. Registration page. **1.0 CE available for behavioral health professionals**

  • Aging, Substance Use, and Cognitive Health: This panel discussion will empower providers to deliver comprehensive care for older adults with SUD. AANHPI Heritage Month

AANHPI Heritage Month

HRSA's FY 2021 American Rescue Plan Funding for Native Hawaiian Health Care provided support to respond to and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and enhance health care services and infrastructure. Awardees used it to purchase new mobile units, hold COVID-19 vaccination events and distribute tests, hire outreach and enabling staff, and increase telehealth.

This Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) month, take some time to watch videos produced by Papa Ola Lōkahi (one of the awardees) to hear stories of how this funding impacted local communities.
