Reroute

Final Reminder: Update Your SharePoint Bookmarks TODAY

OIT recently announced that SharePoint 2019 won’t be accessible after tomorrow, February 16. It’s more urgent than ever that you update your SharePoint bookmarks!

Last July, BPHC’s SharePoint site collection and all the content and pages within it moved from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Online. Have you ever seen a message with a button asking you to navigate to the new SP site when you try to access a SharePoint page? (See the example to the right.) That means you are accessing an outdated page on SharePoint 2019. You need to update your bookmark with the version of that page on SharePoint Online.

As of tomorrow, February 16, you won’t be able to access the old pages and get those reroute messages. OIT’s helpful SharePoint page includes icons that can help you identify which bookmarks you need to update.

ACT NOW! Update all your SharePoint bookmarks and, if you haven’t yet, bookmark the main page for the BPHC Information and Resources (BIR) site.

New Spanish Resources

OPPD’s Policy Division encourages you to share these two new Spanish-language resources for health centers:

Share your comments about these Spanish resources through the BPHC Contact Form (Policy > Section 330 Changes). Tell us if you think these resources are helpful and what other information you would like to see translated.

Sara Stepahin

Sara Stepahin selected for CDC detail

OPPD Policy Division’s Sara Stepahin has been accepted to CDC’s year-long International Experience and Technical Assistance (IETA) Program. The IETA program offers HHS employees the opportunity to gain global public health experience, while providing technical assistance to CDC country offices and partners. Participants receive training at CDC headquarters in Atlanta and are also assigned to work at a CDC country or regional office.

Sara is one of four HRSA participants and joins a cohort of 36 HHS employees. She will work in the CDC South American Regional Office in Brasilia, Brazil, starting in March for three months. She will support the Director of Communications and Policy in promoting the CDC presence in South America through various communications projects.

Sara hopes to bring back new knowledge and skills that could be useful to the work we do at BPHC, with a broadened global perspective. She will be happy to share photos and insight when she returns from Brazil. Boa viagem (have a nice trip), Sara!

Getting to know Delaenam Akahoho

Editor’s note: Interested in participating in a “Getting to know” column for the first or second time? Take a look at the questions to see what’s involved and check out our Getting to Know BPHC Staff page.

Meet Delaenam Akahoho, Public Health Analyst (HRSA Equity Fellow), Center for Health Center Innovation, OQI:

Akahoho

When did you join the Bureau of Primary Health Care?
How does your current role contribute to the Health Center Program? I started working at BPHC in mid-January this year. My current position involves amplifying the work that health centers are doing around innovation and continuous quality improvement. Specifically, I support the data, evaluation, and dissemination work for the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) awards within the Center for Health Center Innovation.

Where did you grow up and what do you like best about your hometown?
I grew up in Okeechobee, a small rural town in Florida. What I loved most about my hometown was the sense of closeness that came from living in a small community. It taught me the value of cultivating strong relationships and having a collective mindset. I also learned what it meant to sit at a table with people who held different beliefs and perspectives.

What is your dream vacation?
A year-long vacation in Ghana, surrounded by family, friends, good food, and music.

Who is your favorite musical artist?
Mariah Carey!

Learn more about Delaenam. Email BPHC Insider to submit your name for a future Getting to Know.

DWM Important Updates and Reminders

Airplane

How the continuing resolution relates to travel

The bureau’s operations are currently funded under a continuing resolution (CR), which expires on Friday, March 8. In the absence of a full 2024 budget or an additional CR, all travelers must return from travel to their duty station by that date. BPHC Travel may be able to begin making reservations for trips occurring after the expiration of the CR, so continue to submit your Travel Request Forms, but understand that there may be delays in processing.

If you have any questions, contact BPHCTravel@hrsa.gov.

Data Spotlight Series

BPHC Data Community of Practice: Data Spotlight Series

Health Center Patient Survey

OQI’s Data and Evaluation (DE) unit manages the Health Center Patient Survey (HCPS). Conducted every few years, the HCPS consists of in-person, one-on-one interviews with patients who are selected to be representative of the Health Center Program’s total patient population.

The HCPS complements the Uniform Data System (UDS) by providing a better understanding of patients’ experiences and satisfaction with receipt of care, health care needs, and factors that contribute to care access and the extent to which the Health Center Program meets those needs. DE uses HCPS data to conduct short-term analyses and peer-reviewed research on quality improvement topics and factors that influence patients’ health status, care access, and satisfaction across different health conditions and service lines. For more details on data products using the HCPS, visit the Health Center Research and Evaluation webpage.

See the 2014 and 2022 HCPS datasets, user manuals, and codebooks on the HCPS webpage. The page also includes a copy of the HCPS survey instrument administered in 2022 (PDF).

To learn more, visit the HCPS Resources page on the BPHC Information and Resources (BIR) SharePoint site. Submit questions about HCPS data through the BPHC Contact Form. (Health Center Data and Research > Health Center Patient Survey).

If you have a Health Center Program dataset that you want to feature in the Data Spotlight Series, contact the BPHC Data Community of Practice at bphcdatacop@hrsa.gov. View a complete list of past Data Spotlight Series features.
