TWM Wrap-up, Building Bridges Phase 2 Winners

HRSA Health Center Program Primary Health Care Digest

April 4, 2023

Jim Macrae

Dear Colleagues,

We are all thinking of those of you impacted by the recent tornadoes and storms in the Southeast. We were especially saddened to hear that Delta Health Center’s site in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, was destroyed. For all of you, we know it’s not just about your place of work, but about your homes, and those of your family and your community.

Jim Macrae
HRSA Associate Administrator

Today With Macrae

TWM Wrap-Up

If you missed last week’s Today with Macrae (TWM) session, we will post the slides and recording on our Engaging with BPHC webpage.

Resources we mentioned:

The next Today with Macrae webcast is 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 4.

Celebration

It’s National Public Health Week

The White House proclamation celebrates the incredible work done by public health professionals nationwide. It specifically notes the $7.6 billion investment in health centers through the American Rescue Plan, and that President Biden’s budget looks to double the size of the Health Center Program. Take a moment to read it – and to feel proud of the incredible work you and your colleagues do every day!

At last week’s TWM webcast, Associate Administrator Jim Macrae reminded the audience that screening recommendations (and other public health guidance) apply not only to patients, but to all of us. One way to celebrate your hard work is to take the time to care for you!

Building Bridges

Announcing Phase 2 Winners in HRSA’s Building Bridges to Better Health: A Primary Health Care Challenge

HRSA is excited to announce the Phase 2 winners of our Building Bridges to Better Health: A Primary Health Care Challenge. Fifteen winners spanning 10 states each received $20,000 for their innovative ideas to enhance access to care, improve care coordination, and address social determinants of health among HRSA-supported health centers. These teams will compete in the final phase of the Challenge and have until July to scale their solution to improve health outcomes for health center patients.

Visit the Challenge.gov website to read more about the winners and their winning submissions, which focus on technology solutions (e.g., artificial intelligence, chatbots, electronic health records, and telehealth), payment and reimbursement reform, workforce solutions, and community engagement!
