Does your Health Center Have a February 1 Start Date? Review Your Patient Target We recently updated patient targets for Health Center Program award recipients with a February 1 budget period start date. On Thursday, April 21, we sent an email message to the Authorizing Officials and Project Directors of these health centers, which indicated whether the health center would complete a fiscal year (FY) 2023 Service Area Competition (SAC) or Budget Period Progress Report. The email also included a direct link to the updated patient target. Health centers that will complete an FY 2023 SAC for awards starting February 1, 2023, should review their patient target and take appropriate action in EHBs by Thursday, May 5.
View the Patient Target Quick Reference Guide on the SAC TA webpage to learn how to access your patient target in EHBs.
Submit questions using the BPHC Contact Form (select “Patient Targets” under the Health Center Program heading).
TODAY: FHIR 101: Opportunities to Improve Interoperability across Health Centers Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is a Health Level 7 International (HL7) standard for electronic health care data exchange. It provides a standard way to express and share information across health centers, providers, and related organizations independent of how local electronic health records (EHRs) display or store data.
For UDS+ reporting and other information exchange needs, health centers, Primary Care Associations, and Health Center Controlled Networks will want to be familiar with the basics of the HL7 FHIR standard.
TODAY, the Health Information Technology, Evaluation, and Quality (HITEQ) Center will host a webinar discussing what FHIR is, what it does, how it impacts your EHR, and what it might mean to your health center and patients.

COVID-19
Partnering with HRSA’s Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program Award Recipients HRSA’s Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program supports pregnant people and parents with young children who live in communities that face greater risks and barriers to achieving positive maternal and child health outcomes. HRSA recently sent a bulletin to MIECHV award recipients to make them aware of the HRSA Health Center COVID-19 N95 Mask Program and the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program. The bulletin encourages MIECHV award recipients to establish or build on relationships with participating health centers. This will allow them to access masks and at-home self-tests so they can, in turn, distribute these supplies to the families they serve.

The study found that non-Hispanic Black children represented the largest group of unvaccinated children.
