COVID-19
Action Checklist for COVID-19 Vaccinations for Children Ages 6 Months-4 Years HRSA created this Action Checklist for Children Ages 6 Months-4 Years for health centers. It contains helpful information and tips for pediatric COVID-19 vaccination, including resources, readiness reminders, guidance on vaccine supply and administration, and more.
If a vaccine is authorized by FDA and recommended by CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the vaccine will be administered in accordance with related requirements and recommendations.
Efforts to Distribute Critical COVID-19 Resources We’ve recently built on the success of the HRSA Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program, adding programs that ensure equitable access to tools that can mitigate the spread and impact of COVID-19. These programs will increase access to COVID-19 testing supplies, therapeutics, and N95 masks:

FDA Approves Second COVID-19 Vaccine The vaccine, which has been known as the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, will now be marketed as Spikevax, for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 18 years of age and older. Read the press release. The Moderna vaccine has been available under emergency use authorization (EUA) for individuals 18 years of age and older since December 2020.
The FDA reviewed updated data from the clinical trial which supported the EUA and included a longer duration of follow-up in a larger clinical trial population. More resources:
Health centers across the nation have distinguished themselves in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s a recent example:
Ensuring Access to At-Home Self-Tests for Migratory and Seasonal Agricultural Workers in Rural Pennsylvania In January, Keystone Rural Health Center (Chambersburg, PA) received 16,200 COVID-19 at-home self-tests through the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program. One of the health center’s main focuses is providing health care to migratory and seasonal agricultural workers (MSAWs) in Franklin County. HRSA identified the Keystone Agricultural Worker Program as a primary recipient of these at-home self-tests.
Through this collaboration, tests were primarily distributed to MSAWs staffing fruit-packing facilities. These facilities are highly vulnerable to COVID-19 outbreaks, particularly during the winter, making the availability of tests especially important.
Keystone also distributed tests to local groups serving individuals experiencing homelessness, including the Franklin County Homeless Shelter and House of Hope. On Saturday, January 29, the health center held a drive-thru giveaway event, at which they distributed 3,200 tests to more than 800 cars.
“The HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program has allowed for early diagnosis and reduced spread of COVID-19,” said Monica Diehl, Keystone’s senior nursing officer. “As a result, children were able to stay in the classroom, employees were able to stay at work, and agricultural workers were able to continue feeding our country, all thanks to this HRSA program.”

Share Your Story For health centers participating in the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program and/or in the HRSA COVID-19 N95 Mask Program, we’re eager to hear how your health center is distributing tests and/or N95 masks. We’d like to know how your participation has positively impacted your patients and recipients.
Send your story to our Health Center Stories inbox. If sharing a photo, please include a high-resolution image along with the names of everyone in the picture and make sure each person has signed a HRSA Photo Release Form.

National Donor Day: Monday, February 14
Every year on National Donor Day, we spread awareness about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation and recognize the selfless gifts of past donors. More than 100,000+ children, women, and men are on the national transplant waiting list. By registering to donate, health center patients can potentially save up to eight lives and enhance 75 more. Encourage patients to sign up at organdonor.gov and donaciondeorganos.gov.
American Heart Month
Self-Measured Blood Pressure Monitoring to Improve Heart Health According to the CDC, nearly 50% of adults have high blood pressure and only about 25% of that group have their condition under control. Self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) monitoring can help health centers improve patients’ blood pressure control. Learn more by checking out these resources from NACHC.

Choosing a Home Blood Pressure Monitor at-a-glance comparison tool: The devices it reviews include all home use arm-cuff monitors on the Validated Device Listing and those with an active application as of Wednesday, January 5. Based on health center feedback, NACHC added a “Notes” page providing context and information to help users understand and compare available features.
- The Million Hearts® SMBP Forum convenes SMBP implementers, facilitators, and other SMBP supporters to exchange knowledge, identify obstacles, and surface solutions to advance the practice of SMBP nationwide. This quarterly forum is co-hosted by CDC and NACHC (using CDC funding). We encourage health centers to join the next meeting:
