Statutory Update
HRSA continues to assess the impact of changes made by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (BBA) to section 330 of the Public Health Service Act on the Health Center Program. We recognize that there are a number of questions related to the Health Center Program oversight and the impact of compliance status on project period length and awards. HRSA is working to address these inquiries on a rolling basis through frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers that will be posted online. We will notify health centers and other stakeholders through the Primary Health Care Digest when these FAQs are available.

We encourage all health centers to utilize the Compliance Manual and Site Visit-related resources online to resolve any active conditions and to prepare for upcoming Service Area Competition applications and Operational Site Visits.

Quarterly 340B Program site registration is open from April 1 to 15 for the standard two-week registration period. Health centers are still able to register a site that has been verified as implemented and with a site status reflected as “active” in EHBs Form 5B through May 25, after which the system will close to prepare for the July 1 start. You will need to provide the following information when calling:

  • Health center name,
  • Site/clinic name,
  • Site IDs for all sites,
  • HRSA/BPHC grant number,
  • Contact name and email address, and
  • Authorizing official name and email address.

The authorizing official will receive an email message that the account is unlocked and a registration may be submitted. Contact the 340B call center at apexusanswers@340bpvp.com or 888-340-2787 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. ET).

Targeted Performance Improvement Visits and HRSA’s Diabetes Quality Improvement Initiative
Project Officers for health centers with a significant number of diabetes patients with an A1C value greater than 9 percent may soon schedule a targeted technical assistance (TA) site visit to support improvement in diabetes outcomes. As a part of the HRSA Diabetes Quality Improvement Initiative, health centers receiving targeted TA visits this year will receive on-site consultation from a clinical expert regarding their clinical program and Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities with a focus on diabetes. During the visit, health centers will identify three actions to improve performance and input the action plan in the EHBs. Subsequently, Project Officers will monitor health centers’ progress in implementing their action plans. Make sure your health center registers for Action Plan privileges in the EHBs. Watch a video to learn more.

National Donate Life Month
Throughout April, people across the U.S. celebrate the tremendous generosity of those who have saved lives by becoming organ and tissue donors and encourage more Americans to follow their example.

You may have already registered as a donor. If you haven’t, please go to HRSA's Organ Donation page (Spanish version), click on your state, and consider signing up. In 2017 alone, more than 34,000 people in the U.S. received the gift of life thanks to those who said “yes” to donation.

Executive Search for BHW Deputy Associate Administrator
HRSA has begun a national search for an executive to serve as Deputy Associate Administrator to lead its Bureau of Health Workforce. HRSA’s health workforce programs improve the health of underserved and vulnerable populations by strengthening the health workforce and connecting skilled professionals to communities in need. If the selected applicant is a physician, he/she may be eligible for a Physicians’ Comparability Allowance up to $30,000 a year. The vacancy announcements close Tuesday, May 1.
