2017 Corps Community Month in Review

Nationwide participation fostered interaction across the greater primary care community while raising awareness for HRSA and the NHSC. What is the HI-5 Initiative?

The HI-5 (“high-five”) or “Health Impact in Five Years Initiative” is a tool that highlights non-clinical, community-wide interventions with a proven track record. Each intervention is associated with improved health within five years or less as well as reported cost effectiveness and/or cost savings over the lifetime of the population or earlier.

Workforce News

National Center for Health Workforce Analysis released two primary care reports

1. Supply and Demand Projections of the Nursing Workforce: 2014-2030 According to the study, seven states are projected to have a shortage of RNs and thirty-three states are expected to experience a shortage of LPNs.
   
   
2. Sex, Race, and Ethnic Diversity of U.S. Health Occupations (2011-2015) The report analyzed 30 health occupations in the U.S. and found that female workers represent the majority in 25 of the occupations.

2017 State Physician Workforce Data Report

The Association of American Medical Colleges report, which is an update of the 2015 State Physician Workforce Data Book, examines current physician supply, medical school enrollment, and graduate medical education (GME) in the U.S.
