Even though we only launched publicly this August, we have so much to celebrate at the U.S. Digital Corps. Here are some of our favorite moments of the year.

Celebrating our launch 🚀

After announcing the U.S. Digital Corps, we were thrilled by the response and excitement from across government, the civic tech community, and the public.

We had over 300 retweets and 145 LinkedIn shares of our announcement posts, including:

We were also part of the news cycle with in over 25 articles, not just here in the United States, but internationally as well:

Many of you have been in the loop since day one. Since launch, we've had over 1,000 followers on both Twitter and LinkedIn and more than 6,000 subscribers to this newsletter.

Engaging with the civic tech community 👩🏽‍💻

Our team enjoyed meeting you at more than 10 different events, where we shared how mission-driven, early-career technologists can start careers in government through the U.S. Digital Corps.

At the Grace Hopper Celebration, Ambassador Susan Rice (President Biden’s Domestic Policy Advisor), Jen Easterly (Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency), and Robin Carnahan (Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration) called on early-career technologists to consider public service.

At the Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing, A Better Tech, and Techqueria, we shared on panels, booths, and career fairs how technologists are crucial for improving the public's experience with government. To hear first-hand from some technologists doing the work, check out these blog posts from our colleagues at the General Services Administration and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Technologists applying to serve 🇺🇸

Last month, in November, we opened applications for our inaugural cohort of U.S. Digital Corps Fellows. In less than one week, we received applications from over 1,000 early-career technologists who wanted to use their skills to serve. Our team is still in the process of reviewing applications and we look forward to sharing more about our June 2022 cohort and partner agencies early next year.

It's been a very fulfilling four months. We can't wait to welcome our first cohort of Fellows next year and to share the impact of their work with all of you.

Have a safe and happy new year,

The U.S. Digital Corps team
