2022 new year

Poll Results: "Happy New Year"?

Last week, we asked How long into the new year is it acceptable to wish others a "happy new year"? According to 57% of you, the correct answer is "until the end of January." (Four more days to get those new year's greetings in!)

Thirty-three percent of you responded "for the first week of the year," signaling that the moment has already passed. No one thought that "it's always acceptable" was an acceptable answer, but there was a tie for "on New Year's Day" and "for 3 months." Good to know.

Thanks so much for participating in the Week in Review poll. To share ideas for future pollssend us an email. Check back next week for another one!

Datathon Update

The five teams have been set. Data set distributed. Analysis commencing. Datathon 2.0 is underway and all teams are digging in to answer the age-old question: What is GSA's market share of IT and Office Management purchases across the whole federal government? In 2 weeks time, we shall find out! Please be sure to attend the next A-CoP meeting on February 22 where the winning team will be crowned!

Shout Outs

Every week we will feature OCFO colleagues who have been recognized by their peers for their great work and character. This is a quick, easy, and fun way to acknowledge and thank one another.

New: Missed Business Objects: Filtering in 15? Check Out the Training and Resource Library

The OCFO Data Delivery and Management Division recently conducted two hands-on training sessions on Business Objects reporting filtering. These courses, titled Business Objects: Filtering in 15 (minutes), were designed to see if we could provide a hands-on experience while still being virtual. We did this by limiting the time, content, and attendees. The instructor would demonstrate a concept and then the class would follow along. If anyone missed a step, screens were swapped, or questions asked to make sure everyone arrived at the same point. It went over well and early feedback has employees asking for additional topics using this hands-on experience method. The two sessions (both the same) are now posted in the OCFO Training and Resource Library.

While you’re there, be sure to check out upcoming classes (and sign up!) under the Training Events tab, including Understanding Financial Data (2/17), Introduction to PBS Business Intelligence (2/23), and Business Objects: Building Reports (3/23).

New: There's a New Template in Town!

This town might not be big enough for the two of us, but the Accounting Classification Codes section on InSite keeps on growing. A new enhancement to the website is the addition of the Pegasys Accounting templates listing. This will be helpful to Pegasys users who are looking for the correct accounting template to use on their documents, or who have general questions about the templates (for example: What is active in Pegasys and what is not?). In addition to the template listing, we have provided information about:

• What the template means
• How it is used
• How it is set up in Pegasys

Have questions? Please contact ssocode.request@gsa.gov.

This training will use a combination of polling, small group break-out sessions, and larger group presentation and discussion.

Reminder: Continuous Leadership Journey - Etiquette and Conduct While Working From Home

Working from home can present a variety of new challenges that you may not encounter in a traditional office setting. Some of these challenges include dealing with untimely distractions from other residents in the home, dependents, or even pets; ensuring the more casual nature of a home office does not impact professionalism; and maintaining relationships despite interacting with colleagues only in a virtual environment. This month's CLJ provides resources for keeping it professional while working from home.
