Improvements to SAM.gov Entity Registration Process Coming Starting Jun 23, 2025

GSA’s Integrated Award Environment will take the next step in improving SAM.gov’s entity registration process beginning this coming weekend. In preparation, SAM.gov and its helpdesk, the Federal Service Desk (FSD.gov), will be offline for maintenance from Friday, June 20, at 8:00 PM EDT until Saturday, June 21, at 4:00 AM.
What you need to know about the improvements is in this new registration video posted on the IAE playlist on GSA YouTube.
Starting on June 23 and during the next several months, users may notice gradual enhancements to the entity registration process in SAM.gov designed to make it more modern and user-friendly. In addition, there will be a different navigation structure. We have grouped similar fields together to make it easier to understand what you need to provide and to prepare.
New Business Information and Taxpayer Information modules will be released on June 23 as the first updates.
-
The Business Information module will include entity validation, allowing users to enter all business information in one place. Users will still navigate through these pages, search for an entity, and obtain a UEI similar to how they do today. The same required fields will continue to be used to validate that your entity legally exists and is unique.
-
The Taxpayer Information module will include taxpayer validation and an IRS consent form. The information we collect and the validation process are not changing. The look and feel will be updated to match the most recent SAM.gov styles and the content will be organized into its own module.
Another exciting change for users is the page-level help for entity registration. As you progress through the process, the help articles will dynamically update, providing information relevant to your current step.
To be clear, let’s discuss what is not changing:
-
The process of getting started. You will start adding or renewing your entity in the same way. When creating a new entity, the first pages are the same.
-
The requirements for registering in SAM.gov for the first time, or updating your registration will also stay the same including the information you provide to SAM.gov.
For entities who need to complete the entity validation process or obtain a Unique Entity ID, you will continue to do so based on our existing requirements. -
The validation and entity submission processes and wait times will remain the same, including the time necessary to validate your entity, the taxpayer information reported to IRS, the IRS validation process and IRS validation wait times, and CAGE validation process and wait times.
