Change is Coming in Late 2024 for SAM.gov Exclusions APIs
GSA, General Services Administration (External) sent this bulletin at 03/12/2024 11:28 AM EDT
We’re giving you a six month “heads-up” about a change to SAM.gov. This won’t affect the majority of SAM.gov users but is important if you fit into a specific category. This is part of our ongoing effort to make it easier for you to continue to comply with federal acquisition regulations and stay connected to the federal marketplace through SAM.gov.
If you use SAM.gov’s exclusions application programming interface (API), we want you to be aware that in mid-to-late September 2024, older versions of the API will retire and will no longer be available. Version 4 (V4) of the exclusions API (available now) is the most updated version and includes a field indicating which exclusions are Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Act (FASCSA) orders. Even though this change isn’t happening until late 4th quarter of FY 2024, you should begin using the updated version now - no need to wait.
If you currently use Exclusions APIs other than V4, you must update to V4 or you will not not be able to obtain exclusions information from the SAM.gov Exclusions API after mid September.
No action is necessary if you do not use the Exclusion API or if you already use V4. No other SAM.gov APIs are impacted.
SAM.gov routinely updates API versions as required. This update supports the recent addition of FASCSA orders to SAM.gov exclusions data. If you are using older versions of the API, you can update your systems now to prepare with plenty of time to spare.
Go to open.gsa.gov and skip directly to V4, regardless of the version you’re using now. Version 4 is the only version with a field indicating which exclusions are FASCSA orders. The FASCSA orders field is on the production version of the API only. It is not available on the alpha version. On the API documentation page, you can also view query string parameters, expected results, a link to the OpenAPI specification codes, and see examples.
