April 1-7, 2023 was Week of the Young Child®, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world's largest early childhood education association. GSA is a NAEYC “large system user” and one of their Accreditation Facilitation Projects (AFP). NAEYC is an important industry partner as it supports our providers in delivering high quality, affordable child care for federal employees. The Week of the Young Child® focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
Visit the NAEYC resources page for ideas on celebrating the Week of the Young Child with children, their teachers, families, and communities

100% of all eligible GSA Child Care Centers are accredited!
Did you know many federal agencies offer a child care subsidy to qualifying employees based on income? These subsidies are a powerful recruiting tool for federal employees. OPM maintains information on participating agencies, Child Care Subsidy Program agency points of contact, and income ceiling here. Or ask your GSA Child Care Program Manager for current information. See also a Tuition Assistance Tool Kit on our website.
Your help is needed to raise awareness and participation by:
- Accepting federal child care subsidies.
- Informing families about Federal agencies employee subsidies (OPM website, list of agencies, and flier can be emailed to families, posted in newsletters, bulletin boards, etc)
- Encouraging Families to contact their agency for more information on whether they qualify.
- Reporting the number of families participating in a subsidy program on your GSA annual report.
