The Sentinel Landscapes Partnership, comprised of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Defense, Department of the Interior, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is a coalition of federal agencies, state and local governments, and non-governmental organizations that work with willing landowners and land managers to advance landscape resilience around military installations and ranges.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Sentinel Landscapes Partnership, which currently features eighteen designated sentinel landscapes. Building on this success, the partnership is excited to announce that the 2026 Sentinel Landscape Designation Cycle will begin in January 2025 with the release of an Expression of Interest (EOI).
On the EOI release date, guidance on the proposal process and criteria will be posted on the Sentinel Landscapes Partnership website and distributed via the partnership listserv.
The 2026 Designation Cycle will be informed by more than a decade of connecting partners across conservation, working lands, climate resilience, and national defense. Start planning for the EOI now by reviewing the resources below:
*Please note the 2024 Sentinel Landscape Designation Cycle Application Guidance should be used as a reference and will be updated for the 2026 cycle.
Thank you for your continued support of the Sentinel Landscapes Partnership.
