National WIC Breastfeeding week is here, August 1-7! Each year, National WIC Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week to promote breastfeeding as the best source of nutrition for a baby.

With a new school year right around the corner, it's important for kids to get caught up on recommended vaccinations. 

Getting kids up to date on vaccines protects them from serious diseases, and for WIC families with school-aged children, it helps to get kids back to school safely.

We're continuing to celebrate WIC's 50th Anniversary throughout 2024 by sharing new fun facts about the program each month.

Immunization Webinar for WIC Staff

September 19, 2024 at 1 p.m. ET August is National Immunization Awareness Month. In observance, our partners Vaccinate Your Family, the National WIC Association, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are hosting a webinar to discuss the importance of vaccinations, vaccine recommendations for children and pregnant women, answers to common vaccine questions, and more. When available, we'll add a link to the recorded webinar to WIC Works for those who are unable to attend the live session.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) From birth to 5 years, children should reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act, and move. WIC staff can help WIC families monitor their child's development and support them with concerns using free resources from the CDC made just for WIC (available in multiple languages).
