The NITRD NCO Team Exhibits at SC24
Greetings from the NCO Team,
Our team has been busy the past few weeks. We had the opportunity to exhibit at SC24 in Atlanta, GA in November and had a successful week. We hosted two Interagency Working Group (IWG) meetings and spread awareness of the NITRD Program to the over 18,000 attendees with our exhibit booth. We look forward to attending next year's conference in St. Louis, MO.
Joydip (JD Kundu), co-chair of the NITRD Subcommittee and I, are pleased to announce that Dr. Abraham Matta, Program Director in the Division of Computer and Network Systems in the National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering, has been named as the new Large Scale Networking IWG Co-chair. Abraham’s short bio is attached. He joins Robert Bonneau (DOD/Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense) and Doug Montgomery (National Institute of Standards and Technology). He succeeds Deep Medhi (NSF). We look forward to working with him in his new role.
Sincerely,
The Joint Engineering Team (JET) COP hosts a meeting at SC24

RFI: Executive Branch Agency Handling of Commercially Available Information Containing Personally Identifiable Information
As part of its implementation of Executive Order 14110, Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has released in the Federal Register a request for information (RFI) on issues related to federal agency handling of commercially available information (CAI) containing personally identifiable information (PII).
The Administrator of OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Richard Revesz, announced this RFI in a blog post on the White House website, noting that OMB welcomes review and comment through the Federal Register and the Regulations.gov website. The RFI will be available for public comment for 60 days.
The public’s input and insights on agency use of CAI containing PII will help OMB to evaluate the risks of these activities and consider the need for additional steps to help agencies maintain the public’s trust through strong privacy safeguards.
Questions about this RFI should be directed to Kevin Herms, Office of Management and Budget, via email at MBX.OMB.CAI_RFI_FY24@omb.eop.gov or phone at 202-395-3200.
